Five words unlock the first level of critique
- A user is the person using the thing.
- A task is what they are trying to do.
- Friction is anything that slows, confuses, worries, or blocks them.
Quality lens
UserThe person using the object, screen, or service.
TaskThe action the user wants to finish.
InterfaceThe part of a product the user sees, reads, touches, clicks, or hears.
FrictionAnything that makes progress harder than it needs to be.
FeedbackThe signal that tells the user what happened or what state they are in.
